
Local MP at prestigious Breakthrough Breast Cancer Parliamentary Reception
Justin Tomlinson, local MP for North Swindon has pledged to support 5 key actions which will aid the fight against breast cancer, at Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s recent Annual Parliamentary Reception.
During the reception at the Houses of Parliament, MP Justin Tomlinson committed to support Breakthrough Breast Cancer in its work to deliver better outcomes for people with breast cancer and create a future free from the fear the disease by:
Justin Tomlinson, local MP for North Swindon said, “I am delighted to have attended the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Parliamentary Reception, and I am committed to keeping breast cancer high on the political agenda in this parliament. 46,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK, and one in nine women will develop the disease at some point in their lifetime. I am looking forward to working with my local campaigners and taking action to help in any way possible in the fight against this disease.”
Jeremy Hughes, Chief Executive at Breakthrough Breast Cancer added,“This year’s parliamentary reception has been a great opportunity to meet new MPs and share with them our vision for a future free from the fear of breast cancer. We are thrilled that so many MPs have pledged their support and are united with us in the fight against the disease.”
Over 80MPs and Peers attended the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Parliamentary Reception, the first of it’s kind since the General Election, enabling the charity to engage with the new intake of MPs and highlight the importance of Breakthrough’s vital research, campaigning and education work.
