Audit Commission Slams Labour Government Over Council Tax

A new report has been published this week by the local government watchdog, the Audit Commission, on council tax increases. The independent survey cites burdens imposed by the Labour Government and fiddled grant distribution as the cause of soaring tax bills.

This independent report confirms what local residents have suspected all along: the year-on-year council tax rises since 1997 are the fault of the Labour Government who have fiddled the system of local funding, through stealth taxes.

Since Labour came to power, council tax in Swindon has gone by up by £442 on Band D bills – a 72% hike, hitting those most vunerable hardest as pay rises and pension increases are no where near 72% greater.

It’s official, this Labour Government is starving Swindon of cash, forcing Council Tax bills to rocket.

The Labour Government, 2 Labour MP's and Labour Council have failed to give Swindon a fair deal.  No wonder people can no longer afford to vote Labour.

It is only the Conservatives who will deliver a fair and affordable Council Tax.
